Angela Washington is Legislative Counsel at the Center for Climate Integrity, where she develops and advances state-level legislation to hold fossil fuel companies accountable for the costs of climate change.
Angela brings more than a decade of legal and policy experience in federal government and public-interest practice. Before joining CCI, she served as an Attorney Advisor in the Policy & Strategy Section of the U.S. Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division. There, she led legislative and regulatory policy development and advised lawmakers and federal agencies on the civil rights implications of proposed federal actions. She also served as a Law Clerk with the D.C. Office of Human Rights, working on discrimination claims and regulatory compliance under local civil rights laws.
Throughout her career, Angela has focused on ensuring that communities disproportionately affected by systemic harm have legal recourse against those responsible -- a focus that now informs her climate accountability work at CCI.
Angela holds a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan. She is licensed to practice law in Illinois.
