Annapolis, Maryland

vs. BP et al.

Share

The City of Annapolis is suing major oil and gas companies and the American Petroleum Institute to hold them accountable for lying to the public about their products’ role in climate change and to recover costs associated with sea level rise, flooding, and other local climate damages that the companies knew their products would cause.

“Mitigating the impacts of climate change is expensive. We would not have to spend the kind of money we are forced to spend but for the actions of the fossil fuel industry. This lawsuit shifts the costs back to where they belong, on those whose knowledge, deception and pursuit of profits brought these dangers to our shores.”
