Santa Cruz (City), California

vs. Chevron et al.

Share

The City of Santa Cruz is suing 32 oil and gas companies — including ExxonMobil, Shell, and Chevron — to hold the companies accountable for deceiving the public about their products’ role in climate change and make them pay for associated damages, including droughts, wildfires, and rising seas.

“Now is the time for cities and towns across the country to tell big oil and gas enough is enough. Making the taxpaying residents of coastal communities like ours bear the costs of rising sea levels is simply not acceptable.”
