Dean Dafis is the Mayor of the Township of Maplewood. He is an attorney who works in housing policy and assistance at the Division of Housing at the NJ Department of Community Affairs where he directs the Office of Eviction Prevention. He is currently piloting a right-to-counsel and diversion in landlord-tenant court. Dean is passionate about economic & racial justice, LGBTQ equality, and environmental sustainability. Maplewood is a leader in reducing carbon footprints, promoting sustainable practices, and legislating climate change mitigation into development and other township related policy making.
