Gary is serving his fourth term on the Bar Harbor Town Council, Treasurer of Our Power, Maine's statewide initiative to create a consumer owned utility, on the steering committee of Maine Climate Action NOW, on the Executive Committee of the Maine Chapter of the Sierra Club, and chairs the Energy Committee of A Climate to Thrive, the grassroots initiative to make Mount Desert Island energy independent by 2030. He was president of Maine Citizens for Clean Elections, Treasurer of Friends of Baxter State Park, and leads a team of professionals at Gary Friedmann & Associates, helping nonprofits in Maine and beyond achieve their goals.
