Lisa A. Cutter State Senator

Lisa A. Cutter

State Senator
Jefferson County, Colorado

Lisa Cutter was born and raised in Colorado and is in her first term as a state senator after serving as a state representative for four years. She has lived most of her life in Jefferson County, much of which she now represents. Prior to being elected, she was an award-winning public relations and media consultant for more than 25 years.

She started her own business so she could have the flexibility to be a hands-on mother, succeed professionally and step up for her community. Her perspective as a mother and business owner shaped her determination to ensure that every system that supports and touches the lives of busy families — from public education to healthcare to mental health — is well-resourced, compassionately designed and human-centered.

During her time as a legislator, she’s been effective by combining a high-level systems perspective with ground-level knowledge of the community. Her priorities include:

  • Stewardship and conservation of the beautiful natural environment and resources we enjoy in Colorado by, for example, diverting waste into productive uses
  • Mental health and well-being of everyone in Colorado, particularly the most vulnerable: veterans, seniors, children, persons of color, the disabled and LGBTQ+
  • Quality public education for all
  • Access to healthcare, including reproductive care and mental health parity
  • Safety, particularly wildfire prevention and mitigation
