Raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, Rep. Harrison earned a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and a Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining the NC House of Representatives, she worked as a Communications Law attorney in Washington. DC. A noted civic leader, she has served on a number of boards at the national and regional level, many with a focus on environmental, conservation, clean energy, and social justice issues.

Representative Harrison was first elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2004. She has been recognized as a leader on environmental, clean energy, green jobs, and social justice issues in North Carolina. She has received a number of awards recognizing her legislative work from groups ranging from the NC Justice Center and the League of Conservation Voters. She currently serves as Vice Chair on the House Environment Committee, and also serves on the Appropriations: Agriculture and Natural And Economic Resources, Election Law and Campaign Finance Reform, Judiciary, Marine Resources and Aquaculture, and Redistricting Committees.
