As a progressive, community advocate, and mother of two, Beth has worked for a thriving, sustainable, just, and compassionate future for all. She has worked at Climate Solutions for 16 years, a Northwest-based clean energy nonprofit. She was the first Executive Director of Washington Conservation Voters and worked for Pro-Choice Washington, Audubon Washington, and Seattle Public Utilities. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Quixote Community, South Sound YMCA, and the PARC (Parks, Arts, Recreation and Culture) Foundation. Beth is currently serving her third term representing the 22nd Legislative District and chairs the House Environment and Energy Committee . She has a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in Political Science and Telecommunications. She lives in Olympia with her husband, Dr. Eddy Cates and loves being in the wilderness.
