As a committed water quality and compliance professional, Gracie Torres became the youngest and first immigrant Latina elected to serve as Vice-President on Western Municipal Water District’s Board of Directors, where she aims to dedicate her service on transparency, water quality and conservation, and job creation. Gracie Torres is a co-founder of IEWORKS and also serves on the Boards of the Inland SoCal United Way, Operation New Hope, Hispanic Coalition for Small Businesses, and Center for Community Action and Environmental Justice. Gracie is also the benefactor of Beca Angelita, a scholarship named after her abuelita aimed to help high school students of color interested in STEM. In 2019, Gracie was awarded an “IMPACT Award” by the Pick Group of Riverside for Civic Impact and recognized as “35 under 35” in 2020 by Young Elected Officials Network. She was also crowned “Queen" at the 2020 MardiCrawl, a fundraiser for 2-1-1 Connect. Director Torres was also named “Women of the Year” in 2022 by the County of Riverside. Gracie is a mother of three, a longtime Riverside resident, and a proud product of Riverside Unified School District schools as well as Riverside Community College. Her passion for water quality and environmental science developed when she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry and a Master's in Earth and Environmental Sciences from California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). She is currently working on a Doctorate in Public Administration at Cal Baptist University (CBU). Professionally, Gracie was an adjunct chemistry professor at CSUSB and is an environmental planner for Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District.
