Senator Jim Carlson was first elected to the Minnesota State Senate in 2006. He is the Ranking Minority Member on the State Government Finance and Policy and Elections Committee and also serves on the Transportation Finance and Policy and the Civil Law and Data Practices Committees.
Prior to his public service, Carlson earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and his Machine Design Certificate from Dunwoody Institute. He has worked in various manufacturing management positions at Ecolab and 3M throughout his career.
Senator Carlson is excited to join the growing list of Leaders for Climate Accountability and working to hold polluters accountable for fueling the climate crisis.
