Julie von Haefen has represented the 36th District in the North Carolina House of Representatives since 2019. She serves on the Appropriations, Appropriations- General Government, Local Government, Education K-12 and Military/Veterans Affairs committees in the House. Rep. von Haefen focuses her legislative work in public education, environmental protection and women's issues, including maternal health, reproductive justice and equal rights.
Rep. von Haefen received her bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and her law degree from Case Western Reserve University. She practiced law for over 10 years in a variety of areas including criminal law, medical malpractice defense, municipal law and education law, and is licensed to practice law in Ohio, Arizona and California.
