Keith Kazmark grew up in West Paterson (renamed Woodland Park in 2009) and was elected Mayor of the Borough of Woodland Park in 2011 and re-elected Mayor in 2014, 2017 and 2020. He previously served three terms as a Councilman and as Council President for three years.
During his tenure as an elected official, Kazmark has fought to stabilize taxes, invest in open space and recreation facilities, improve infrastructure and streamline municipal government operations. A graduate of Syracuse University with a master’s degree from the New York Institute of Technology, Keith started his post-college life as an educator in Rockland County, New York. At 23, he was elected as the youngest member in the history of the Woodland Park Council, serving stints as Chairman of the Recreation & Community Relations Committee and the Health & Senior Services Committee. He is currently the Governing Body liaison to Passaic Valley Regional High School.
Kazmark’s community service includes membership on the Planning Board, Alfred H. Baumann Free Public Library Board, Municipal Alliance Against Drug & Alcohol Abuse, coordinator of the Harold “Hatch” Van Winkle Scholarship Fund and as a founding member of the Passaic Valley High School Education Foundation. He is a former member of the of the West Paterson Boys’ and Girls’ Club and spearheaded the formation of the new Woodland Park Recreation Department to promote quality recreational activities for the children of Woodland Park.
Keith was named as an Honored Citizen by the New Jersey State Police Honor Legion in 2011 and was recognized as one of Passaic County’s Young Professionals in 2014. He was also inducted into the Mayor’s Hall of Fame by the New Jersey League of Municipalities in 2021.
Kazmark served as the Municipal Clerk/Administrator in neighboring Elmwood Park for 12 years and as the Business Administrator in Parsippany-Troy Hills for two years. He currently carries out the BA role as part of his duties as Mayor here in Woodland Park. He works to promote efficiency, overseeing a transformation to 21st century policies in local government.
Keith was elected in 2010 to the Executive Board of the Municipal Clerks’ Association of New Jersey (MCANJ) and served as President in FY 2015-2016. Additionally, he earned a Registered Municipal Clerk (RMC) certification and holds both Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) and Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) designations through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.
This invaluable experience on the municipal level served him well as the Mayor of Woodland Park. Mayor Kazmark retired in June 2023 after 22 years of government service. He resides on McBride Avenue with his children Alexander and Caroline.
