Councilwoman Laurie Huryk has lived in New Jersey for most of her life. She is married with three grown children. Professionally, Councilwoman Huryk has been a registered nurse for over 25 years, currently specializing in nursing informatics. She earned her bachelors of science in nursing from Rutgers College of Nursing and her masters of science in nursing from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Councilwoman Huryk was elected to the office of Councilmember, Ward 3 of Toms River, NJ, in the 2017 election. She firmly believes that every person on Earth has a responsibility to do their part to preserve and care for the environment. Most importantly, she believes that those in leadership positions, whether it be public or private, have an even greater obligation to effect positive change.
