Before his election to the legislature, Representative Gamba served on the Milwaukie Council for a decade and as mayor for eight years. In that time he was proud to pass one of the strongest climate action plans in the entire state, institute what was a more liveable wage at the time (seven years ago) for all city employees of $15/hour, attract nearly 2,000 new units of housing to the city, and more. Prior to entering public service, Rep. Gamba worked as a self-described “adventure photographer” for National Geographic. Traveling the globe, he saw signs of climate change long before government and business communities started to take it seriously and this is what motivated him to first run for office. Climate change continues to be his top issue to this day.
