Mary Ann Dunwell is a progressive Democratic in her fourth term as a state legislator representing Montana House District 84, Helena and East Helena. She’s also running for the open Senate seat in her district, Senate District 42.
Her policy priorities include public health, healthcare and mental healthcare, non-discrimination and gender equality, equal pay, living wages and worker rights, social, economic, reproductive and climate justice, and making sure corporations and the super wealthy pay their fair share in taxes for needed public revenues.
Mary Ann helped pass our state’s historic Medicaid Expansion law in 2015, then extend it in 2019. She co-sponsored successful legislation to prosecute child sex abusers and sponsored bills for health, mental health, suicide prevention, living wages, affordable housing, fair taxation, climate action and environmental protections.
Mary Ann serves or has served on various legislative committees, including House Taxation, Human Services, Local Government, Natural Resources, Consumer, and Legislative Administration.
