Alder Max Prestigiacomo was born and raised on the west side of Madison and is a public school graduate. His family is from the Greenbush Neighborhood ("The Bush") in Madison, and he is proud to now represent parts of that past vibrant community, including the Italian Workmen's Club. Max is an LG(B)TQ+ youth activist who mobilizes young people to fight for a future to believe in and for a carbon-free society. Working in a diverse coalition, he, and his peers organized thousands to strike and protest for climate action. At 17, he and dozens of other young people founded a nonprofit dedicated to fighting for climate justice and the empowerment of marginalized communities through organizing. Because of his work in climate activism, Max went to the 2019 United Nations Climate Summit as a youth delegate, where he engaged in discussions with other youth activists and leaders. Max is extremely passionate about helping young people, and his efforts as a young person in Madison lead him to pursue a degree at UW-Madison, where he currently is a 2nd year majoring in Political Science and History. Max's favorite hobbies include skiing and snowboarding when the weather is right and he is always looking for a reason to eat breakfast foods.
