Pat, a former history teacher and VISTA volunteer, graduated from Swarthmore College, received an MA in teaching from Harvard University, and completed Master’s course work in history at UMass Boston. She served on the Somerville School Committee and state representative before being elected to the state senate. She is Senate chair of committees on Elder Affairs and on Labor and Workforce Development.
