Ryan Mello served on the Tacoma City Council from 2010 – 2020 where he led on issues related to climate protection, transit and transportation, affordable housing, growth, LGBTQ civil rights and improving the lives of working families. Previously, Ryan was elected citywide to the Metropolitan Park Board of Commissioners in 2005.
Born in Kailua, Hawaii, Ryan moved to Tacoma in 1997. A graduate of the University of Puget Sound, he earned a degree in Politics and Government. Ryan is a strong advocate for smart growth, biking and walking and cares passionately about public transit being a critical ticket to connect all citizens to opportunity and building communities worthy of our children. Ryan is a candidate for the Pierce County Council, District 4 – an area covering University Place, Fircrest and downtown Tacoma, Tideflats, the Hilltop, Central and South Tacoma neighborhoods.
Professionally Ryan is the Executive Director of the Pierce Conservation District. The Conservation District works to conserve natural resources that are essential to both our economy and our region’s quality of life.
