Representative LaKeshia N. Myers is a former educator with the Milwaukee Public Schools. Her responsibilities included serving as a School Support Coach and modeling instructional leadership for the district. Once directly serving the district’s premiere alternative education center, Dr. Myers believes in serving the students that have the greatest challenges.
Previously, she served as an Education Director for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. In this post, she served as the administrator of the Oakview School and as the chief education consultant to the warden at Oakhill Correctional Institution. In this position, she was responsible for educating adjudicated individuals as they prepared to reenter society.
Prior to this, she served for eight years as Instructional Lead Teacher/Curriculum Specialist for the Prince George’s County Public Schools of Maryland, where she created a series of citizenship based service projects to assist and enhance civic education for students in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
Rep. Myers has been representing Wisconsin's 12th Assembly District since January 2019. She currently serves on the Assembly Committees on Education, Agriculture, Tourism, and Government Accountability & Oversight.
