Mayor Tom Butt was elected in November of 2014 and re-elected in 2018 after serving on the Richmond City Council for over 20 years. He has prioritized improving quality of life by working to reduce crime, protect the environment, seek quality job and education opportunities for residents, assess access to healthy foods, advance social equity, and more. His work has led to the launch of the Richmond-San Francisco Ferry, the enrollment of Richmond into MCE Clean Energy, the establishment of the Richmond Promise, and a wide range of legislative initiatives focused on quality of life and smart growth.
