Elected to the county commission in 2018, and reelected in 2022, Board Vice Chair Tye Menser represents District 3 (the western portion) of Thurston County. Tye is passionate about issues related to criminal justice reform, informed by his 21-year legal career in both the public and private sector. He is also passionate about issues related to the environment, specifically water, and works actively to represent Thurston County throughout the Puget Sound region, with groups such as the Chehalis Basin Flood Authority and Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Council. Tye’s wife is a kindergarten teacher, and they have two teenagers in the Olympia School District. In his free time, Tye likes to play banjo, especially with his band, The Oly Mountain Boys.
