Tyler Mack lived in a single-parent household with two older brothers. At an early age, Mack learned the importance of hard work, love and the strength of the community. He watched his mom obtain a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree while working a full-time job and raising three boys. That moment in time inspired him to fight for his dreams – no matter the obstacle.
Mack’s passion to help people in his community was rooted in his involvement in the church. As an adolescent, his pastor, Bishop John R. Thompson (Calvary Temple Christian Center, Bridgeport) and the legendary civil rights leader, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. demonstrated a level of dedication and service to the community that inspired him to make the same impact.
Mack’s political accomplishments include: the passage of the Empowered City Council Act, Capitol Budget ordinance, and the revamping of the Fair Rent and Fair Housing Commissions for the City of Bridgeport. Mack also traveled to Flint, Michigan to help with the water crisis; served as the secretary for the Delta Pi Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.; and holding a variety of roles in local and state politics.
Mack is a graduate of High Horizons Magnet School, Bullard-Havens Technical High School, and Eastern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Mack currently serves as the Outreach Manager to Congressman Jim Himes. He is the former legislative aide to the State Senate President of Connecticut. He continues to utilize the lessons learned and the connections made at the State and Federal level as essential resources to help rejuvenate Bridgeport.
Mack’s work on city council is centered on helping Bridgeport reach its full potential by investing in our education system, infrastructure, and small businesses. He knows this city can be a great place of opportunity, culture, and spirit and believes if the city invests in its people, then the people will want to invest back into the city.
Mack understands the road will not be easy, but with the same core concepts he has seen to be proven true to succeed through any obstacles: hard work, love and the strength of the community, Mack believes we can all rejuvenate Bridgeport.
