Danielle Friel Otten State Representative

Danielle Friel Otten

State Representative
Chester County, Pennsylvania

State Representative Danielle Friel Otten was first elected in November 2018 to serve as state representative for the 155th District.

A mother, businesswoman, and community leader, Danielle is focused on providing for strong public schools; making health care more affordable and accessible; public safety, conservation, and environmental justice; and workforce development that helps to support our local economies while creating good, family-sustaining jobs.

When rumors swirled in 2015 that construction of the Mariner East pipeline would overtake her neighbor's yard, just feet from where her children play, Danielle began to coordinate with neighbors to demand safety, transparency, and accountability from government and state agencies who oversee these projects. She was integral in founding Del-Chesco United for Pipeline Safety, a collective of eight coalitions in Delaware and Chester counties joining forces to fight for public safety at the state level.

As a legislator, Danielle has been a vocal member of the Environmental Resources & Energy Committee, supporting legislation that would transition Pennsylvania to renewable energy sources and protect our communities from the harmful effects of pollution and climate change. Her standing as a champion for climate action and environmental justice has propelled her into leadership positions in both the state legislature and national organizations, and she currently serves as co-Chair of the bicameral, bipartisan PA Legislative Climate Caucus and as Pennsylvania State Lead for the National Conference of Environmental Legislators.
