Why Make Polluters Pay?

For decades, major oil and gas companies knew their products could cause “catastrophic” climate damage but chose to protect their profits through ongoing campaigns of denial, deception, and disinformation.

Today, as communities pay the price for Big Oil’s climate lies—facing escalating costs from heatwaves, superstorms, wildfires, floods, and more —the financial burden often lands on taxpayers and disproportionately affects vulnerable residents.

How CCI’s work advances climate accountability

CCI educates the public and policymakers about Big Oil’s role in the climate crisis, the costs of climate change, and pathways for justice and accountability. In courts, communities, and with elected officials, CCI champions a nationwide movement to expose the fossil fuel industry's deception and demand accountability.
